At Southwest MMA we provide a safe, friendly atmosphere where you are garunteed to have fun while learning many different styles of Martial Arts. We won’t accept a bad attitude and will turn away anyone that wants to bring negativity or an unsafe training environment in to our gym.
With all the “pop up” MMA gyms in the area you need to make sure that you are receiving quality instruction and that the gym you choose will still be around in a year or two. Southwest MMA has been training people in Arizona in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Muay Thai Kick Boxing and MMA for over 5 years now and we recently moved to a much nicer, larger location that will see our gym flourish for years to come. Our instructors also have more competition experience than ANY other MMA gym in the state of Arizona. Head instructor, Santino DeFranco, has been wrestling since middle school and training and competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, kick boxing and MMA for over 10 years! With a professional MMA record of 13-4 and numerous BJJ and submission grappling titles Santino is by far the most qualified in the area. Other instructors include Dave Farias, a BJJ Brown belt and American National BJJ medalist as well as Kyle Sonnenberg who has been instructing Muay Thai kick boxing for years. Rounding out our coaching staff is world renown strength and conditioning coach, Matt Bratton, who has been training pro athletes from the NHL, NBA, NFL as well as pro tennis, soccer and more, for nearly a decade.
